Have you ever prayed for abortion to end in America? Some of us have been doing that for 20, 30, even 40 years. It’s been a long battle. It even seems like things have gotten worse.
I’m going to say something you probably won’t like.
Abortion isn’t the problem.
It’s a symptom of something even more deadly.
Abortion will continue to exist as long as the Church continues to walk outside of the most basic precepts of Jesus.
Legal abortion exists because the Church is full of pride and arrogance. That’s not something that can be voted away. It’s not something that the Supreme Court can fix.
Abortion will exist in this land as long as the Church in America has a hard heart. As long as we resist God and make the things of man more important than the things of God, we will eat the fruit of our ways.
Go and read Matthew 6 and 7. In those two chapters Jesus lays out the law of the Spirit. Jesus didn’t come to make our lives easier. He came to make it so we can have relationship with the Father. That path is simple but it’s not easy.
So many want to see abortion end but they are full of pride and arrogance. Instead we need to be humble and realize our need for Jesus.
So many want to see abortion end but they don’t mourn for the church and all her divisions.
So many want to see abortion end but they are full of anger and judgement and show little mercy.
So many want to see abortion end but their hearts are full of dirt and lack any desire for holiness.
So many want to see abortion end but never show the love of Jesus to a dying world.
So many want to see abortion end but have murder in their hearts toward others.
So many want to see abortion end but don’t seek first Jesus and his Kingdom.
If we want to see abortion end, then we must turn our hearts to God and become a humble church.
If we want a different result then we need a different approach. The voices that have led us into this wilderness can’t get us out.
It’s time to return to God and to stop listening to those that have moved our gaze from King Jesus.
It’s time to humble ourselves and declare that we have not been the light we are supposed to be.
It’s time to become a Mary generation. She was willing to take on the scorn of all those around her just so she could birth Christ into her world.
As long as we resist the “cost” we will not receive the cure that will bring an end to abortion.
Are you willing to pray the price?
John 17 is Jesus’ most powerful prayer. Make it yours too and bring healing to our land.
